Ben Cooper

Since 2009, Ben Cooper has been the Digital Director at creative and
content agency The Monkeys (B&T Agency of the Year 2011 & 2010,
Australian Creative Hotshop 2011 & 2010, Campaign Brief NSW Agency of
the Year 2011) – building the company’s digital team and capability,
and maximising opportunity for leading finance, telecommunications,
tech, FMCG and entertainment brands including UBank, Intel, Google,
Parmalat and AUSTAR.

He runs the Australian arm of Creative Social, the International
collective of digital creatives, and has lectured in Digital Marketing
for the Australian Direct Marketing Association (ADMA) and Ad:Tech
University.

Prior to The Monkeys, Cooper was Partner and Senior Digital Strategist
at social media start-up The Population. There he developed digital
ideas for clients such as FOX8, Universal Music, Rockstar Games,
Johnson & Johnson and Toyota. He held the role of Digital Strategist
at creative agency Host (Creative Hotshop 2007 Digital & Interactive
Agency) and Director of Digital Strategy at The One Centre.

He has worked on film releases from Newline Cinema’s Number 23 to
local releases Lucky Country (Kriv Stenders) and My Year Without Sex
(Sarah Watt).

He is a regular speaker at conferences and events including AIMIA
(Australian Interactive Media Industry Association), Ad:Tech and APG
(Australian Planning Group), chaired Australia’s national film school
(AFTRS) session on ‘The Future of Branded Content’ and the ADG
(Australian Directors Guild) session on ‘Emerging Platforms for
Filmmakers’.

As the New Media writer for Inside Film magazine, he wrote the cover
story interview of YouTube co-founder Steve Chen. He has also featured
in Desktop, Mumbrella, Creative, AdNews and B&T and was interviewed by
the ABC Media Report on the future of advertising. He has judged the
IAB (Interactive Advertising Bureau) Awards for the past four years,
the Cannes Young Lions, Creative Showcase, Spikes Asia, Creative
Hotshop and AWARD Awards.
